Brendan is a practising clinician and doctoral researcher based in Adelaide, Australia, with extensive experience working with people in both acute and persistent pain states. He is CEO of Noigroup and part of the Persistent Pain Research Group at SAHMRI and UniSA. His clinical and research interests include pain education, embodiment, and predictive processing, with a focus on applying contemporary pain science to real-world recovery. Brendan teaches nationally and internationally, supporting clinicians to integrate this science into everyday practice.

Ben works as a Physical Therapist at Stanford Healthcare Tri-Valley in Livermore, California where he specializes in persistent pain conditions, working with individual clients and group classes.  He has worked as an outpatient Physical Therapist in multiple practice settings within the San Francisco Bay Area, seeing patients with a variety of neuromusculoskeletal complaints.  He received certification as an Orthopaedic Clinical Specialist through the American Physical Therapy Association in 2008.

In addition, he was an Associate Professor at Samuel Merritt University located in Oakland, California, where he taught in their entry-level Physical Therapy Program for over 15 years. Ben has been teaching courses on peripheral nervous system anatomy, biomechanics, clinical evaluation, and intervention since 2004, and he joined the Noigroup US teaching faculty in 2013.

Lorimer is a distinguished keynote speaker and expert in pain science, holding the title of Professor of Clinical Neurosciences and Foundation Chair in Physiotherapy at the University of South Australia. He has been recognised with numerous awards, including the Officer of the Order of Australia. With over 30 years of clinical experience in managing persistent pain, Lorimer has authored numerous articles and books, significantly influencing clinical guidelines and pain management practices worldwide. His contributions to community education on pain are internationally acclaimed.

Dr Jane Chalmers is a Senior Lecturer in Pain Sciences at the University of South Australia. She is the leader of the pelvic pain theme under the Innovation, Implementation And Clinical Translation in Health (IIMPACT) research concentration at the University of South Australia. 

Her research focuses on understanding pelvic pain in both women and men. Her work ranges from basic science through to implementation research and she is particularly interested in the role of pain education and other physiotherapy interventions in recovery from pelvic pain. 

Jane has a passion for science dissemination, regularly writing pieces for The Conversation, giving media interviews, and presenting at conferences on the topics of pelvic pain and women's health. 

Assoc Professor David Butler, B.Phty, M.App.Sc, EdD

Understanding and Explaining Pain are David’s passions, and he has a reputation for being able to talk about pain sciences in a way that everyone can understand. David is a physiotherapist, an educationalist, researcher and clinician. He pioneered the establishment of Noigroup in the early 1990s. David is an Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of South Australia and an honoured lifetime member of the Australian Physiotherapy Association.

Among many publications, his texts include Mobilisation of the Nervous System 1991 The Sensitive Nervous System (2000), and with Lorimer Moseley –  Explain Pain (2003, 2013), The Graded Motor Imagery Handbook (2012), The Explain Pain Handbook: Protectometer (2015) and in 2017, Explain Pain Supercharged. His doctoral studies and current focus are around adult conceptual change, the linguistics of pain and pain storytelling. Food, wine and fishing are also research interests.

Associate Professor Tasha leads the Persistent Pain Research Group at SAHMRI and co-directs IIMPACT in Health at the University of South Australia. Her research spans pain education to virtual reality, exploring persistent pain mechanisms. Tasha, a winner of numerous international awards including the Ronald Dubner Award from IASP, is recognised as a top Australian Science Communicator. She has authored over 100 articles and delivered numerous keynotes globally. Tasha co-authored "The Knee Osteoarthritis Handbook" with Lorimer Moseley and David Butler, offering insights into managing knee osteoarthritis.

Luke is the Owner/Director of Noigroup. His physiotherapy journey began with a degree from the University of Melbourne, Australia, followed by a move into clinical practice in New York. In NYC, Luke co-founded New York Sports Medicine, a company he later sold.

Still one of New York City’s most prominent physical therapists, Luke’s extensive experience in managing acute and chronic pain and sports injuries demands that he travel extensively to manage professional and Olympic athletes and touring performing arts/dance company members. He currently serves as a consultant with the NBA League and European soccer professional teams. Luke is also affiliated with the clinical education programs of Columbia University and Touro College.
