About Dr Ebonie Rio
Dr Ebonie Rio is a leading clinician, researcher, and educator in tendon rehabilitation. With a PhD in tendon pain and motor control, her research has transformed how clinicians understand and treat tendinopathy, particularly in athletes and active populations.
Ebonie has worked across elite sport, including with the Australian Ballet, AFL, and Olympic teams, and continues to lead international conversations around load, pain, and tendon recovery. She is a Senior Research Fellow at La Trobe University, where her work bridges neuroscience, biomechanics, and clinical translation.
Ebonie is known for making complex science accessible and clinically meaningful – something that shines through in her teaching.
